Kirabo’s Harvest Day is an opportunity for guests to gain first-hand experience at what it takes to be a winemaker. From hand-picking grapes in the vineyards to pressing it in the cellar. We will take you through the whole journey. Afterwards, we relax with a wine tasting and lunch in the garden.
Hello December! By far, our favourite month. December is mornings at the beach, it’s fairy lights and tinsel, it’s fruitcake that no one eats, and a glass of wine by noon. December is re-reading your favourite books, corny Christmas movies, too many people crowded into one room, overeating and sleeping in.
We are extremely blessed with happy December memories, and we hope that you are too.
Thank you for all the support throughout this year, and for helping to keep Kirabo on its feet. Without you, we could not be us.
See what we have in store for you this month.
Kirabo Kersfees Boks
We are collaborating with Harvest Box this month for an exclusive Kirabo Christmas Box.
Let’s talk about Kirabo Kompanjie, our new social media handle.
You have probably noticed that Kirabo Cellar’s had a bit of a handle change on its social media pages. We went from Kirabo Cellar to Kirabo Kompanjie. Don’t fear, no drastic changes are up ahead, just a few upgrades and tweaks to get us closer to our vision of what Kirabo means to us.
Why Kirabo Kompanjie?
From farming to wine to craft beer to weddings. Our passions are widespread, and we want to share all of them with you.
Our dream for Kirabo is for it to be a destination spot, where people can come together to experience all that our family business has to offer. We are not just our wine or our craft beer. Kirabo is everything that this company has to offer and it is all of you who support us.
We didn’t want to move away from the name Kirabo. Instead, we just wanted to add something to it, that encapsulates that we have more than just that one thing to offer. Thus, Kirabo Kompanjie is now home to the farm, wine, beer, events, and everything else our company has to offer.
How does it work?
We will be promoting all events, specials and news from our Kirabo Kompanjie pages: Whether it’s wine, beer, food or events. This is where you will find all the latest updates.
Broers Brew and Kirabo Venue will keep its current pages. Kirabo Venue will serve as a portfolio of our venue and previous events. Broers Brew will occasionally provide important, brand-specific, updates on its pages.
Fun Fact: Why Kompanjie?
We always want to stay true to our roots. Kompanjie is the old Dutch translation for the word company. Being half Dutch, we wanted to honour that part of our heritage too, as it is a big part of who we are today.
At Kirabo we love don’t just love drinking wine, but also cooking with wine. Taste is an important part when it comes to making, tasting and appreciating wine.
It’s our busiest time of the year again, harvest season, and that means it is also time for our annual Harvest Day event, taking place at our family cellar in Rawsonville.
What is Kirabo Harvest Day?
Harvest season is when the grapes on our vines are ripe and ready to be harvested. This means we get to handpick and carefully select grapes for our cellar’s selection of wines.
Each year, we pick two dates during harvest season where we invite the public to come and join the harvest festivities and see what it means to be a winemaker. Not only do guests get to harvest grapes from our vineyards, but we also move to the cellar to destalk and crush the handpicked grapes.
During this time our brewing company, Broers Brew, will be doing a display of craft beer brewing, which guests are welcome to observe and take part in where possible. This is the ideal time to ask all those beer brewing questions that you always wanted to know.
Afterwards guests are treated to a Kirabo wine tasting and Broers Brew craft beer tasting. The tasting will be followed by a light three course lunch under the trees.
Oh, and of course wine punch will be served throughout the day to all our guests.
P.S. Bring a swimsuit if you’d like to take a dip after this adventure. Swimming is at own risk. Children need parental supervision at all time.
For those who wish to take the experience even further, at an additional cost of R 250 per bottle, guests are given the opportunity to blend and bottle their own wine.

We are thrilled to announce Kirabo’s Ostara Festival.
Spring is on its way, and as lovers of the earth and all that is merry, we want to celebrate this change of seasons with you. Ostara is a festival celebrated on spring equinox – a celebration observed by the likes of vikings, and who doesn’t love a good viking story?
Spring is a time of renewal, a time for change, an opportunity to start fresh. It is also a period where nature gifts us with some of the most beautiful colours, and tastiest food. Celebrations is a must.

Soetes & Sop is around the corner and we can’t wait. Sure, it’s been busy preparing the venue (and all the soup) for one of our biggest annual events, but it’s also a super exciting knowing that in a few weeks guests will be hanging out at our cellar, enjoying our Kirabo red wine as they relax with family or friends. This anual wine event takes place in the Breedekloof Valley. Guests get to travel from cellar to cellar, tasting wine and soup. Kirabo likes to stick to the loved traditional vegetable soup, as it is a perfect combination with our red wines. As with all the other years at Soetes & Sop, we will be serving bites of our special cupcakes to taste with the Kirabo Cupcake blend – a very popular red wine, especially amongst those new to red wine. For the designated drivers (and kids) we’ll be selling small tubs of Shiraz ice-cream, cupcakes, and kombucha. For those who just want to try something other than wine, our bar will be open and of course, we’ll have craft beer on tap. Just to get you even more excited, on the Saturday from 12:00, we’ll have live entertainment by Darryl Gantana. He has a voice that can lull babies to sleep, and guitar skills that can mend broken hearts. On top of that, the Mini Coffee Company will also be arriving at 12:00, to make sure that all our guests can warm themselves with a coffee or cupaccino. Tickets are available via Howler.
